Helping you on your wellbeing journey

Welcome to Karen Taylor Therapies

Hello, I’m Karen.

I am a qualified reflexologist, massage therapist, and former nurse with over 25 years of experience in the NHS. I hold a Level 5 Practitioner’s Diploma in Clinical Reflexology with Distinction — the highest level of reflexology training in the UK. My clinical background gives me a strong understanding of the body and allows me to provide treatments that are safe, personalised, and delivered with genuine care.

I am a member of the Association of Reflexologists (AoR) and the Complementary Therapists’ Association (CThA), and I am committed to maintaining high professional standards and continuing my professional development.

I offer reflexology treatments from my home treatment room in Allington, Maidstone, as well as mobile appointments across Kent. I also provide workplace reflexology, bringing the benefits of relaxation and wellbeing into professional settings.

My aim is to create a calm, welcoming space where you can take time out, relax, and focus on your own wellbeing. Reflexology can help support the body’s natural healing processes, and every treatment is tailored to your individual needs, drawing on both my reflexology training and clinical experience.

Whether you are looking to unwind, support your wellbeing, or simply take a little time for yourself, you will be warmly welcomed. I want every client to feel comfortable, cared for, and able to fully relax, leaving feeling calmer, more balanced, and refreshed.

Gentle holistic therapy and relaxation through reflexology

What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is a safe, gentle, and non-invasive holistic therapy with roots in ancient Chinese medicine. It is based on the principle that specific points on the feet correspond to different organs and systems within the body.

Reflexology works by applying pressure to these points, helping to support the body’s natural balance and overall wellbeing. It can reduce stress and tension, promote deep relaxation, and encourage the body’s own healing processes.

Many clients find that reflexology helps improve circulation, ease everyday aches, and discomfort, support better sleep, and boost energy levels. Each session is tailored to your individual needs, creating a calm and nurturing space where you can fully relax and rebalance.

Whether you are looking for relaxation, emotional support, or simply time to care for yourself, reflexology offers a deeply restorative and rewarding experience.

Benefits of Reflexology

Balance

Calm wellness stones representing relaxation and holistic therapy

Reflexology is a gentle, holistic therapy designed to support your body’s natural equilibrium and overall sense of wellbeing. By working on specific reflex points in the feet, it encourages internal balance and helps you feel more grounded, centred, and in tune with your body.

Relaxation

Deeply calming and restorative, reflexology offers a space to fully switch off from the demands of daily life. Through slow, intentional touch, it soothes the nervous system, eases built-up tension, and quiets a busy mind. The experience is both comforting and cocooning - an opportunity to unwind, reset, and simply be.

Health

While reflexology is not a cure or substitute for medical treatment, with regular sessions, it can be a supportive addition to your overall wellbeing routine. Many clients find it helps with hormonal fluctuations, digestive disturbances, and everyday aches and discomfort. It may also support better sleep, improve mood, and promote a greater sense of physical and emotional balance over time.

Frequently asked questions

What Conditions can Reflexology help with?

Reflexology is a complementary therapy that may offer support for various concerns such as stress, anxiety, sleep disturbances, hormonal changes, digestive discomfort, and pain control. It should be used alongside and not instead of conventional medical care.

How many sessions will I need?

Treatment frequency is tailored to your individual needs and wellbeing goals. Some clients benefit from weekly sessions, particularly at the start, while others may prefer more spaced appointments or ongoing monthly maintenance.

Each session builds upon the last, supporting a deeper and more lasting sense of balance over time. Following your initial consultation, a personalised treatment plan will be recommended to best support you.

Can you diagnose my health problems?

Reflexologists do not diagnose or cure illnesses, but during a session, we receive feedback about which areas of the body are functioning well, and which may have difficulties. Occasionally, reflexology draws attention to specific regions that are under strain or working hard to support your health; if a particular reflex point indicates this during treatment, I will discuss it with you after the session. Certain conditions may necessitate medical clearance prior to treatment and reflexology may not be appropriate in some instances. Using the information obtained from your consultation I will tailor the treatment to optimally support you needs while ensuring your safety and comfort remain a priority. If you have complex medical needs or are unsure if you are suitable for reflexology, please get in contact to discuss.

What happens during a session?

When receiving reflexology, you only need to uncover your feet. Wearing comfortable clothing is suggested to make the session more enjoyable, though it isn’t required. The treatment is conducted in a recliner chair for added comfort. You may use a blanket and eye mask, which are available if you wish to further relax. At your first visit, there will be a health consultation to customise the therapy to your needs. A therapy balm will be applied to your feet, and I will use specialised pressure techniques to target the reflex points. Please let me know if you have any allergies or prefer vegan products.

How long will a session last?

Each treatment session is approximately 60 minutes in duration. For your initial appointment, please allocate 90 to 120 minutes (subsequent appointments will require 90 minutes). This enables a comprehensive consultation, discussion of findings, and aftercare recommendations, ensuring that the process is thorough and unhurried.

What does reflexology feel like?

Reflexology is a therapeutic treatment that involves applying controlled pressure to specific reflex points on the feet. The pressure can be light or firm depending on your personal preference. Certain areas may feel tender, which can suggest a possible imbalance in the body, but the treatment should never be painful. Reflexology usually involves a steady, calming touch that most people find soothing – even those with sensitive feet!

After a reflexology treatment, most people feel deeply relaxed and at ease. Many clients noticed improved sleep and a lasting sense of calm. Your body’s natural healing response may cause some mild symptoms such as tiredness, headaches, or heightened emotions. These are usually temporary and fade within 12-24 hours. To help support your body after a treatment, it is recommended to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water (The Eatwell Guide - NHS recommends we should drink 6-8 glasses of water a day to stay healthy) and avoid alcohol and strenuous activity for 24 hours.
